Just a Pinch of Creativity…
My road to creativity started as a performer on the stage, but I often found myself gravitating towards creating things with my hands. Crafting a story through movement and song was enjoyable, but being able to make something that could be enjoyed for years to come was way more satisfying!
In 2010, I started creating collage charm bracelets from vintage clip on and screw back earrings I collected over the years. I find inspiration for these bracelets everywhere! Each charm is thoughtfully curated as a nod to the inspiration it represents before it is added to the bracelet. I love collecting forgotten pieces of vintage jewelry to give them new life. My Collage Bracelets are all one of a kind, imaginative, wearable art, and still a joy to make after all these years.
Now Let’s Talk About Christmas…
I love vintage Christmas! This love started with the tree at my grandparents’ house when I was a girl. This tree was on a rotating stand, had C7 lights on it, was loaded with Shiny Brite and German Christmas ornaments, and laden with silver tinsel so thick, you could barely see the ornaments underneath. In the front window, a perfect village of Putz houses was laid out on cotton snow batting, complete with a light in each one to make them glow. I can remember going to their home during the holidays, and marveling at the majesty of that tree!
I began collecting my own Shiny Brites and Putz houses about 15 years ago. I had a modest collection for a while, but after joining a Christmas collector’s group, I found that I had an abundance of vintage items, some pristine, some damaged. I hated seeing the damaged items going to waste, so I began to build dioramas in some of the old ornament boxes I had, using these flawed items. I would carefully place them among bottle brush trees to hide their blemishes, again, giving new life to something old and forgotten. I enjoyed creating these so much that I started collecting more vintage items and boxes, always looking for unique pieces to tell tiny stories. These bits of boxed nostalgia bring smiles and laughter, akin to watching a child look in a department store window at Christmas. Often whimsical, and sometimes comical, I cherish the joy these creations bring to my customers.
But Wait, There’s More…
Many of the other items I create are made with the same intent to give something old new life or bring a bit of nostalgia and laughter in the lives of my customers. The inspiration for my Christmas ornaments, dinosaur creations, and planters all come from the mindset of bringing back a bit of the childhood memories and imagination that we often overlook as we get older.
For the past nine years, I have frequented some of the more off beat craft and vintage shows in Central Pennsylvania, like Forty Elephants and Market of Curiousities. I am looking forward to bringing my creations to a larger audience through this website, and my hope is that my nostalgic re-creations will find homes where they will be loved for many years to come.
